The Awakening

"The Awakening" by Nora Roberts is a new fantasy book with interesting characters and world development. There is a lot of potential for this Dragon Heart Legacy series, but book 1 does not stand well on its own.

This is a book consisting entirely of exposition and getting everyone to a place where things can really start happening. The characters are loveable, and I'm looking forward to the things this story seems to building towards, but I would recommend waiting until the other books are out before picking this one up.
