Something Fabulous

As a queer romance set in the 1900s 🏳️‍🌈, this one didn't grip me like I expected it to. It's billed as a farce and has a lot of queer representation (the main couple are gay and demisexual).

It took until about the halfway mark for me to really get into it because until then the main character was bordering on insufferable. 🤷‍♀️😕 At a third of the way through, I briefly considered not finishing because I could not figure out how I was supposed to be rooting for Valentine.

Hall's writing style saved this book for me. There were lines and moments throughout that I loved, (and Bonny truly is fabulous) and they were enough to keep me going even when I wasn't sure l wanted to.

The second half is more like what I expected and was cute and fun and funny. ❣️ If the whole book had been more like the second half, this might have become one of my favorites, but I think there is just too drastic of a switch between the first half and the second half for me to really love this book.
