The "Fae Out of Water" series by E J Russell is a surprisingly good fantasy gay romance series. This is also a prime example of don't judge a book by its cover!

I picked up "Cutie and the Beast" (book 1) fully expecting a trashy, throw away novel, but it is an adorable reimagining of Beauty and the Beast, where the beast is a therapist to the supernatural community.

The first book can absolutely stand on its own without leaving you annoying cliffhangers. As the series goes on, the focus of each book shifts slightly more to the overall happenings in the faerie world. And "The Druid Next Door" (book 2) has one of the best representations of navigating a D/s relationship I've seen in a long time.
